The drought continues in Fernie and most of the mountain is becoming very similar skiing. Groomed runs or crud and moguls are the two options available at the top of each list. The sun was out early this morning though and there is one place where fresh snow still exists. At the top of the Great Bear chair there is a hike up to the top of an old lift called Face Lift. Naturally Wendys snownar decided that we were going bootpacking for our first run! It was a short but exhausting hike with all our ski gear and thermals on but we were the only people up there and the view was awesome.

Hike completion relief!
The A-Team - Phil, Ruben, Will, Dwight, Tom, Me, Martin, Leon, James + Fiona and Katie on the snow!
After the descent we mainly did carving on the groomers, which i tried to use productively to implant the notion of having my poles in the attack position as standard, its getting there! We did a few drills before heading down for dinner, at which time a couple of the group were'nt feeling too fresh and decided to call it a day and nurse their mojo back to health!
After lunch me and Fiona mentioned to Wendy that we'd prefer to get onto some more challenging terrain by heading down Kangaroo - notorious for big moguls and crucial line choice. She's never one to say no (one of the most enthusiastic people i've met to be honest!) so we split from the group and got it done. It turned out to be a great decision and we were hungry for more so after picking up Leon for the humps and bumps crew, we headed up to Skydive for the long moguled descent down. Loved it! I was even managing to find some flow and get the rhythm of the turns right at a few points...
A ski claimed by the mountain, halfway down Skydive - Unsure of the story behind this one...
Another update for today - its confirmed, we are cat-skiing on Tuesday 14th. We were pretty limited on dates/seats available so although we've had no new snow for about a week, if we didn't book now we would have missed out altogether. We're all praying extra hard now, maybe a group snow dance to the Griz is in order...
The evening was all gearing down to one event. The most prestigious sports event in Nonstop history. The foosball tournament started out with 14 teams, although not all of them showed so it ended up with only 3 teams in the semi final to battle it out.
Martin + Ruben
Me + Fiona
Duco + James
Unfortunately we ran out of time so tomorrow a round robin will decide who the finalists are, followed by the best of 3 final for the title. To be continued...
