Freestylin'

A good night of R.I.C.E seemed to get my knee well on the way to recovery and today i felt comfortable enough to ski a bit more challenging terrain. Luke, a local freestyle instructor has been brought in for the morning for those that wanted to learn how to do drops and jumps in the backcountry and make the most out of the mountain. Although i wasn't going to be hucking any cliffs in my current state, i went along with Luke to watch the other guys give it a go and so i could pick up some tips for the future. We lapped Polar Peak 5 times in a row, and for good reason. Today was an inversion day. This basically means that the temperature at the top of the mountain is higher than at the bottom, so you can ski above the clouds. The result is nothing short of spectacular:

Everyone loved the freestyle camp and Luke had them jumping off 10ft rock bands by the end of the morning. Unfortunately Martin was the third off it and the lip had been scraped down to rock (unbeknownst to him) so he caught a ski and faceplanted onto the snow below! Video to follow...

We met up with Wendy and had lunch at the Lizard Creek lodge, which was pretty expensive but the food was good and the view from the outdoor hot-tub wasn't too bad either! The afternoon was a much more casual affair with us mainly cruising on groomers and making the most of the remaining sunshine, even stopping at Lost Boys cafe for a hot chocolate before a top to bottom run on Falling Star to finish the day.

Its that time of the week again... Tonight the Ghostriders opponents were Golden, who put on a decent performance and equalised in the second period. The riders were on form tonight though and some really skillful stick control was on display. It went to extra time (5min golden goal scenario), but Evans hit the back of the net and the Riders took the win.
